Being Bebe Extravaganza

“You don’t gotta let the girls know you’re sweating, honey.” - Bebe Zahara Benet 

In collaboration with FilmNorth, Glass House joined with international recording artist, TV personality, activist and drag pioneer BeBe Zahara Benet in an event 20 years in the making.

This EXTRAVAGANZA was a multi-sensory experience celebrating Benet’s prolific career and debuted “Being BeBe”, a documentary that premiered at the Walker Art Center during the 2021 Sound Unseen Festival. The film follows the artist’s rise from the earliest days of his career in Minneapolis to becoming the first champion on the iconic RuPaul’s Drag Race and a star of his own productions celebrating Black queer excellence with an Afro-centric aesthetic in New York.
