A Ghanaian slang term used to describe a form of celebration that incorporates singing, dancing and instrumentation.
After a two year hiatus, Minneapolis DJ/Producer Kwey brings back “SAMAMBO”, a dance party series dedicated to celebrating music from the African diaspora.
Along with Kwey, this year's line up will also feature different Black and Afro DJs based in Minneapolis.
Yasmeenah: A DJ known for being a dance floor therapist! Her sets include funky club genres, curating vibrant nights centered around music & dance. Her popular party "UNBOTHERED" is a night dedicated to lovers and listeners of Black electronic music.
DJ McShellen: Michelle, or DJ McShellen is a West African female DJ based in Minneapolis. She loves to create a melting pot of old school, throwback, new school, and futuristic. McShellen has described this mix as "50% that's my jam" and "50% oh this a bop"! Her goal is to bring something different to the music scene every chance she gets and to create a new, fun, and enjoyed experience in every space.
DJ ENL: Leonard Nwajiaku is an afrobeats DJ based in Minneapolis and Huston. Known for his depth and dance-floor pleasing DJ ENL provides good vibes that flow and connect with his audience.
